white privilege is the ability to be seen as the default, the standard, the norm (which is whyseeing white people called out strikes you as so jarring) and the many big and small ways that default status benefits your life. everything from not being feared when you're walking towards someone late at night, not having to question whether a weird interaction with a cop or a salesperson was because they were having a bad day or because of your race, not having to wonder whether students and professors at your school think you only got in because of affirmative action and don't deserve to be there, and on and on and on the list goes.

jarring? no. hilarious? yes.
calling white people out for things they have no control over and aren't responsible for just causes more mess
it doesn't open a conversation, it just shuns people into a corner, and then you get a silent majority
seeing people using their iphone (creation of the evil cis straight white man) to broadcast to the world via twitter, facebook, instagram, tumblr, or youtube (all creations of...you guessed it... the evil cis straight white man) about how white people have contributed nothing to society and are a "plague to the planet" is irony at best and no one ever calls it out

too busy blaming all white people for things they aren't even responsible for and can't control...and then you wonder why race relations are in the dirt now.
