I always read the OP and the entire thread too, if it's not too long.

There's nothing worse than jumping into a thread and posting some ignorant comment that you'd have known was wrong if you'd read the OP, or some stupid comment that someone in the thread has already corrected with receipts.

A lot of users do this (I could name a few) and look like absolute MORONS in the process

Still remember it happening yesterday, someone in the thread already corrected an erroneous post and people were still coming in after that post with "omg this happened" comments.

It really depends what the subject matter is. Also whether it's posted in Celebria, Base, Lounge. The first two aren't mature discussions and it doesn't matter if I understand the situation or not. You're allowed to make mistakes in those instances.

I wouldn't employ someone who jumps to conclusions, makes assumptions and posts dramatic responses to a developing story, for instance. They shouldn't be police officers, army personnel, doctors, judges, lawyers, etc. There's stages of evaluation which most people don't do. They instantly respond before understanding the situation, resourcing all facts and then making an unbiased response (which includes hatred, bigotry, racism, homophobia, sexism...) You have to be neutral.
