Tbh, I think it's an eb and flow. You can never have an entire group of people under the same emotional state. What matters is we talk about it period. And those who rage and use coarse language will do that, but hopefully the most reasonable voice will stand out above the rest.
That said, whenever we are speaking demographically, we typically use generalizations. "Americans are fat." "Americans only know one language" etc. When there are 320+ million people and a variety of cultures included under the "American" label.
