To be fair Japan and the rest of Asia is a pretty insular music market (as is the US, although we do like stuff from the UK sometimes). You pretty much only see Asians on the top of the charts there. You do get some mega-popular English-language artists in Asia (Mariah, Ariana, Carly Rae for example) but it's generally pretty rare for someone outside of Asia to have a hit in an Asian country.

OT: It's a bop, but Perfect Illusion is better. It's also not like PI is a slow song like the tropical house hits. It's 123 BPM, and this is somewhere around 120 BPM (like Just Dance and Poker Face). PI is also perfect for the Super Bowl.

Still, she's very strong and as you said most western artists don't even chart there. She simply doesn't get most of her sales from the US or the UK, but she still sells, that's my point. Ariana does pretty good there too

I used to find this **** so bad and I was happy it wasn't the official version. Then the original version came out and I found it just a little a REALLY LITTLE bit better than this crap. So, no. Both songs are crap, tbh
