I'm so perched for La La Land, I'm hoping to see it on/around Christmas with my fam (maybe along with Passengers) but I'm gonna wait and hear the songs when I watch.

The Greatest was one of KING's best! Glad you picked it.
Also i'm ready for La La Land, it sounds really cool. I don't usually watch that many films but every now and then something like that captures my interest.
I'll check some of the other songs on your list. I need to try again to get into Kero Kero Bonito I guess. You'd think they're up my alley and yet I wasn't into their album.
The greatest is a SONG and Atomic number was one of the best from that album from what I remember. I listened to the Katie Dey song and it is v. pretty.

KING and KKB
Arrival was not as outstanding as people described but well it's better than last year's The Martian. The Fits though looks interesting!
true! tbh i'm not a fan of the other big ~space films that have been released this decade (gravity/interstellar/etc)
whew, truly the highlight off this album. i originally was going to choose what's it gonna be?, but that kind of grew old!
14. Lost Under Heaven - I&I
usually i'd find vocals like this to be grating and gross, but its melancholic nature just makes it a more calming and pleasant listen
13. FAMM'IN - circle
The 1:23 mark of this song is legitimately one of the greatest musical moments of the entire year.
12. Solange - Cranes in the Sky
yeah, the singles were awesome and the cohesive album is pretty strong overall, but nothing else from the album really tops this imo!
11. A Tribe Called Quest - We the People...

There is this air of uneasiness that's produced by the opening shots of Krisha. An old woman, stripped of her clothing and sense of life, stares into the viewer's eyes as the camera becomes more and more uncomfortably close. Afterwards, the film never really shakes off this sense of dread as we follow an old woman attempt to reintegrate herself back into her family after claiming she's attained sobriety. As the film goes by, Krisha's self-proclaimed sobriety becomes increasingly problematic and emotions end up at an all-time high during this family's Thanksgiving holiday.
15. Lemonade
One of the most monumental moments in pop culture of this year occurred way back in April when Beyoncé released her new album through a film premiere. Praised for its innovation and quality, Lemonade served as a bridge between music and film. Each song was paired with a beautifully-shot visual in order to create a storyline.
The hour-long cinematic version of Lemonade brought allegations of infidelity to surface, producing memes and setting fire to social media. However, its importance and impact extends way beyond that. Each of the individual vignettes all tell an arching storyline of what life is like (and offers a voice) for black women, the most disrespected people in all of America.
14. Julieta
Julieta is a really interesting film. The majority of the film is in flashbacks as a mother writes a letter to her estranged daughter, basically detailing her entire life story up to the days where her daughter suddenly disappears.
At times, it feels a bit too soap opera-ish with its string of character deaths and mysterious maids exposing sordid love affairs. However, Julieta eventually finds it footing as it becomes less of a romantic drama and more character-driven as various women struggling with grief and internal turmoil take center of the film.
Oop @ Lemonade making it on the movies list Queen! I didn't really care for all the speaking parts in the short film, but the music videos were all very solid.
Not gonna lie I was on the anti-Bey bandwagon prior to Lemonade, but I've never seen her with such vision and boldness before. She completely did her own thing - and it worked,
