So then people with serious diseases shouldn't be able to vote? I believe in democracy and taking that right away from them would be discrimination

Many of them don't vote out of selfishness, they have children and some also have grandchildren and vote for what they think will be better for them, even if their children don't agree or have different political beliefs and the truth is that we don't know how long they will live so it is also their future.
Also, many old people feel sad and depressed because they feel usless, I think doing that would make the depression rate rise significantly among old people, they would be totally against it and people from all ages would support them and would probably make their voice be heard somehow, even if it's violently.
Having said that, I see your point, they (generally) have different values and makes it harder to progress but just making them unable to vote is not the solution, we definitely don't need to create more separation and support discrimination, that's what we need to fight against.
