However, in addition of the aforementioned: prostitution is a ~special line of work. As is other sex-work, like stripping etc.

It should never be required from an unemployed person by the job agency, to accept, or even apply, for that kind of job. That would be sex-slavery of sorts.

So in that way, sex-work is not in the same line as other jobs because of the complicated nature of human sexuality and because of the many ways sex is tangled in religious beliefs, mental health, morals, ethics etc.

I don't particulary judge people who work as prostitutes. I do believe it should be legalized and regulated in my country because they work in really poor conditions.

I don't think people who are willingly selling their body are "bad" people but I can't act as if it was a regular job and compare it to someone who's bored at his 9 to 5 work, daydreaming about lying on the beach with a mojito in his hand.

Sex workers, indeed, rent their intimacy to customers and it can take a huge toll on their life and on their sexuality! There are also risks that we can't ignore, for the people in question. For example, how many prostitutes have been raped/murdered these past few years? In le Bois de Boulogne, in Ile de France, some of them are threatened at gunpoint by their "colleagues"!

I don't think it should be illegal, but I have had friends ask me if they thought it was a good idea and I told them I would be uncomfortable with a friend of mine being a prostitute. It just doesn't sit right with me. Most of my friends have degrees from Cambridge and other top universities and are aiming to get good, respectable jobs, and I would hate to think someone who could be a doctor or a lawyer would end up selling themselves. I would judge them for wasting their intelligence.

There is a sort of bias in there I find rather interesting. Would you feel uncomfortable with a friend that albeit earning a lot of money and enjoying plenty of fame as, say... being a soccer player, is poorly educated? Consider these people may earn hell more money than people who studied at the university just for kicking a ball. It seems to be you believe people that sell their bodies lack intelligence as well as money = a good, respectable job (I feel I may be wrong with the latter assumption). Prostitutes who are indeed intelligent can get highly paid and/or invest their earnings on businesses or housing.

It should be legal where it isn't.

From a public health perspective, it makes the profession safer for those in it and helps to reduce rates of disease transmission and abuse.

The reality is that prostitution always exists, legal or not. So why not just make it legal and ensure those who engage in the profession do so safely and responsibly to prevent future harm (and cost to society).
