There is a big debate going on right now where some believe men should be allowed maternity leave for emotionally turbulant individuals. Whats your stance?
I followed until "emotionally turbulent individuals".
I don't think they need as much but they should have like a month or like at least 3 weeks to be with their newborn. That's a big adjustment for a father too.
But if it didn't exist then yes they should be allowed. Fathers are so important to a child's development and they should be kept together as much as possible.
Of course. Fathers are highly important in a child's development. Although men don't deliver the baby, hence I may understand why mothers have a longer leave, fathers need to be there for supporting both the wife and the newborn child.
In Peru there is a 3-day paternity leave (ridiculously insufficient), whereas mothers get 6 months.
To conclude, the proper term should be paternity leave.
