I don't think it's that much of a reach. Dream Hampton described the first time she met Bey; she said she popped up at one of Jay's studio sessions alone in a cab:

We see her with full security going place to place while in active era mode, but I think during those long periods where she's off the radar, she does a lot of normal things. Like, imagine how exhausting and frustrating it could be having to live through a team of people on a constant basis; it's probably refreshing to her to do something like call a cab and go places by herself.
