Andrew Lloyd Webber might be better known for producing award-winning musicals rather than multi-award winning R&B singers, but that could have been the case, as he allegedly nearly signed Rihanna.
The renowned producer was on the Good Morning Britain sofa today (December 13) plugging his new musical School of Rock, when he made the surprising revelation.
Presenter Susanna Reid unexpectedly name-checked the singer, saying how Lloyd Webber had told her and co-host Piers Morgan during the commercial break that he discovered Rihanna first.
And then he compared her to a holiday picture. As you do.
"I saw [Rihanna] singing karaoke in Sandy Lane hotel in Barbados 12 years ago," he said.
"I turned to my friend and said, 'She's very good'. I wondered if we brought her back, it might be like a picture you buy on holiday and then you get home and think, why did I buy that?
"I thought I might get her home and then wonder what to do with her.
