So if EC voters find something treasonous while briefed and they can't bring themselves to vote for the winner of the popular vote for some ****ing reason, it's clear what the choice should be.

They're either going to elect Trump or Hillary. Electing Hillary would be a miracle. Anything else is practically a mathematical impossibility. There's no way they would be able to efficiently mobilize and unite behind a candidate that wasn't even running, further that would cause even more civil unrest than going with Hillary.
The two most likely scenarios is that Trump will be chosen to be president by the Electoral College, or the Republican electors will be split enough that it denies Trump a majority but not enough voted for Hillary to give her the majority and then the decision goes to the House. The House is required, by law, to give the presidency to someone who made the top 3 in popular vote. So, it would come down to Trump, Hillary, or Johnson. Depending on what the investigations pull up... that would be the deciding factor and it would likely go to Hillary (or Johnson as a compromise candidate) depending on how severe it is.
