Santa who shamed 9yr old hospitalized

A North Carolina mall Santa who fat-shamed a 9-year-old boy last week has checked into the hospital with a blood clot, according to WLOS.
Earl Crowder, who was employed as Kris Kringle at the Forest City Christmas House told Anthony Mayse to “lay off the hamburgers and French fries” after the child simply shared his wishlist for Christmas.
Crowder’s niece, Kelly Butler, wants the public to know that her uncle’s seemingly-crude comment to Mayse may not have been ill-intended after all.
“We all have a slip of the tongue and we regret it and we say I’m sorry,” Butler told the news station.
“I just hate, I hate the fact that he was labeled ‘Bad Santa,'” she said.
Since the incident, a Facebook support group has been created by the community in support of Crowder, with over 1,300 followers on the page, many of whom are said to have known the Jolly Ol’ Saint Nick vet most of their lives.
Still, some commenters on the page felt his remarks were uncalled for.
Following the incident last week, Mayse told WLOS that Santa’s words affected him so badly, he “went to bed crying that night.”
