I'd say it's soul.
The thing about versatility is that it can have two meanings.
In Rihanna's case, her voice can lend well to many genres and still sound good/appropriate. But her voice doesn't change that drastically.
In Gaga's case her voice changes from pop to jazz to broadway to rock. There is really no comparison between genres, its more her styling ability that is versatile rather than her voice.
