Rihanna started off as this Bey clone with the long hair. Sweet girl that doesn't say anything to offend anyone. Basically Beyoncé before self titled
GGGB was the best throng she ever did. She got her Caribbean swagger. Let the inner hoe come out and that's when I started to love her.
Right now both of them exist because they are very different, that's why most of the fans can't get along tbh. The hive likes how put together and well thought out Bey is (talent aside) while the Navy lives for the messiness of Rihanna and her idgaf attitude (talent aside).
Because she was one of the few that was smart enough to realize she wouldn't ever beat Bey by trying to be Bey; she truly blew up and made a name for herself when she changed her image from the whole "Bajan Beyoncé" thing the label had her on and carved her own lane. The rest of the Beyoncéitis victims didn't get that and got lost in their bundles of honey blonde weave.
nobody said anything about debuting. Ciara, Cassie and Amerie had very successful debuts in the 2000s
Beyonce didn't destroy anyone, aside from maybe Ashanti. All black musicians were under siege in the latter half of the 2000s, Beyonce simply was the best at adapting. She had good management and her association to Jay Z was pivotal in her longevity. We know this, even she knows this which is why she her last 3 major projects revolved around him in some way, Lemonade, Mrs Carter World Tour, On The Run tour etc.
Her identity as a wife protected her as she presented herself as an over sexualised popstar, and not just a wife to any random man. But one of the most respected veterans alive. This gave her some extra leeway to pander to whites, while not being abandoned by her black base. In any other case she would have been called a sell out in the sasha fierce era.
which black female RnB artists who made it to *2003 are you guys thinking of?
So far I see people listed Ashanti, Brandy, Ciara, Cassie, Amerie, Christina Milian.
That sucks, I love these RnB gals. Was it really just the declining of the genre?
