It should be about the song not the artist. If a country artist does a rock song then why should it not be nominated? Same for a rock artist going pop for a song.
I agree with him though. I don't think his motivation is racially charged or misogynistic at all. Beyonce is not a rock artist and I don't consider it a rock song either. Just because she made a song with rock-tinged influences doesn't automatically make it rock. At least not on the same level as what the other nominees in that category do. Something's not right there. Thankfully, she won't win that category anyway, but it just seems like a waste of a slot.

I don't care what the Beehive says, even Rihanna stated that she was snubbed in favor for Beyoncé so that she'd have the most nominations.
