So I have this friend who is starting avoid someone, because he realizes that it will never ever happen. He sees the person every single day, but low key avoids the person to move on. Now that the person somehow feels the could shoulder, my friend feels guilty for doing this to the person. Can I call my friend rude for doing this? Or can I simply call it his way to lessen the pain?

I think your friend should just be honest with the person.

This has recently happened to me. Basically, I am moving to a new state and I wasn't interested in a long distance relationship so to save myself the heartbreak, I just cut all ties (physically and on social media) before it got too serious. My friends tell me that they ask about me but I just can't so I make them lie for me. The timing was too inconvenient. I felt guilty for a whole week and this post makes me feel that way again. I say your friend should learn from my mistake and be honest. The person might be hard on themselves and strung up on them thinking they did something wrong and that can't be a good feeling. Save them their time and tell your friend to save themself the guilt

Your friend should just be honest with the person, it'll make them both feel better in the end. The other person is just going to be left questioning themselves and wondering what they did to make your friend avoid them.
