BEYONCÉ
ENTERTAINMENT
Those who visit social media often understand celebrity fandoms are no joke. There are fandoms that eat, sleep and breath their favorite star. They live their life waiting for them to post a new picture or send out a new tweet or update their Snapchat. They’re passionate and loyal and devoted. And then, there’s the Beyhive, the fandom behind the massively popular R&B goddess Beyoncé Knowles, the group that has truly upped the ante for fans everywhere.
The group has already proven itself to the fandom world by winning GQ’s Fans of the Year Award in 2014, so it would be no surprise for them to win another title in 2016. If there’s one thing I’ve learned during my time in a multitude of fandoms, it’s that you never mess with this one, just like you don’t mess with Beyoncé (as proven by her most recent album, Lemonade). The Beyhive has singlehandedly earned its way to the top. Queen Bey’s following is the fiercest one I’ve come across. The Beyhive is so strong it’s even earned a second moniker, or perhaps a sub-group: The Beygency. Saturday Night Live did a skit on the group, noting that the Beygency is everywhere and they don’t like it when people mess with their idol. There’s a reason this group is called the Beyhive: When you shake the hive, when you threaten the Queen Bey, the entire crowd will come at you stinger first.
