I think an iconic artist is someone who left cultural imprints... just this year 2 of her songs have been sampled by other recording artists. Which leads me to the second unbeatable argument in Mariah's favour (at least for people with common sense): artistic integrity.

I guess Mariah's flop album sold a few thousand copies more than Jennifer's doesn't change the fact that singles, streaming, touring, movies and endorsement wise, JLo wins.

Not to mention JLO has been a sex symbol for over 18 years. Something that Mariah has tried to be but has constantly failed miserably at doing. I guess some are meant to be actual icons and others are only remembered for one song and worshiped by a bunch of gays on Twitter and pop forums.
