I was just using it in a broad sense. Gay marriage, equal rights for women and minorities, pushing what everyone was calling the most progressive party platform in history, embracing economic policy that was considered communist/socialist just a decade or two ago.
If you're just pinpointing "ending discrimination" then of course those presidents (minus Wilson) were ahead of their time. But she would've actually governed through a progressive nation not starting one. That's what I was trying to say. For example, Obama is the most liberal president by default just for living in a liberal society.
