This is the backlash against Trump's election. A lot of far right candidates in Europe are going to lose because he won.
Honestly I think there's 0 correlation. Plus, if the US actually voted, Hilary would've won. Turnout in Austria is around 75% according to early reports, with comparable turnout Hilary wins.

Let's hope that the scary though of waking up in Brexit UK or Heil-ing US, is enough to mobilise people to vote.

Several of my friends in France have told me that they think Trump's win is draining support from Le Pen and far-right candidates. Interesting to hear a different perspective... I know sometimes Americans falsely perceive that the entire world is paying attention to us, though it did seem that Europe was very consumed with this US election.

uhm the green party already won in may before the far right asked for a reelection. though it seems like many were shocked at how well the far right in austria did (49.65%) which lead to more center ppl voting this time i suppose.

The Green Party's candidate increased 10x from the vote last spring. It's not a secret that the rise of far-right nationalism around the globe has woken up and motivated some people who might not have voted otherwise.

Oh we were, but I don't think it will have any effect on how our election will play out. Your friends probably told you about the "silent majority" which does exist and wasn't so silent for a few days. Le Pen winning could've happened happen regardless of the US election, she's been widely accepted has already into the 2nd round by almost every candidate since a year ago you know
