Battery is a huge issue with Macs. I've had my retina a year but the battery already needs replacing. Just browsing the internet on Chrome will kill my battery in an hour.

It's kind of proven that Chrome is a resource hog though (it opens itself multiple times to run faster - but kills battery). Switching to Safari is likely to save you a lot of battery time, I also prefer Safari anyway.

True, also Firefox is killing your battery (it can be fixed tho), and also Spotify.
It's always better keep using the Apple apps in general.

I bought my Macbook Pro with retina display back in August and I feel like the battery life is already decreasing like wtf I thought Macbooks were the best?
I do use Chrome constantly but I feel like when I first got it, I had like 2 hours left at 10% now it's like half of that
Right now I'm at 66% and I have 2 hours and 32 minutes left.
