All the criticism aimed at Britney as being a pure nostalgia act, had good sales just because of the climate in which she debuted, a fad, etc.. should be aimed at Xtina if ATRL payed attention to receipts.

That's why it's comical to say Britney's stans have no room to talk

Britney's song was never released as single, nor was heavily promoted or featured on a relevant album. And it's actually remembered, compared to Christina's Christmas discography

No one's talking about it because it doesn't fit the ATRL narrative of Britney being this big fluke artist from the 90s whose actually a flop.

It wasn't even released as a single, it was just an album track. And it is actually doing pretty good on Spotify and charting in some countries every year. Try harder next time.

Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas has over 15 million plays on Spotify, the second most successful version after Buble's, who is a Christmas staple. The album has 3 more songs that are around 5 million each. It's not forgotten

At the end of the day, seasonal music is a difficult, weird market that very few popstars have been able to crack. Mariah and, to a much lesser extent Celine, basically. There's a reason why out of the thousands of people who have tried, only a handful have made something out of it and Christina is in that group

Wow, I had no idea it flopped that badly.

But yeah, I guess it has more to do with the fact that teens don't really care about Christmas music than anything else. It's still pretty messy that it bombed that hard tho.

Christina fans like D.M.F and Aguilegend still try Britney when Christina has been flopping for a decade and has a MUCH smaller career than Britney, so please spare me this whole 'flop but getting brave' thing

OT: Christina has always been a flop outside her Debut and Stripped and those two were only successful because she rode Britney and P!nk's coattails

When she's on her own, she's always flopping so her Xmas era bombing ain't a shock
