The dutch are known to be racist. Coming from the island they colonized, many from our island deals with a huge amount of racism and judgement. Many are not open minded which is the main reason i went to Canada instead of there.

Their xenophobia and race issue is sad and tbh they treat the islands they colonized horribly. I would never want to live in the Netherlands

This is deeply disturbing and I really don't understand why so many Europeans have such visceral reactions to people pointing out offensive behavior. It's flat out ****ing weird how indignant -- and in some cases, flat out hateful -- the responses are when people dare to question the casual racist behavior that's considered acceptable in Europe.

This is awful, but lets establish one thing here, the Netherlands remains one of, if not the most liberal and tolerant country in the world, you can't even compare it to the US. Racism exists everywhere, including the likes of Canada and Scandinavia where is it least prevalent but incidents like this don't change facts.

And this is exactly why this tradition needs to GO. Yall keep trying to argue for 10 pages about how it's not about race, yet when something like this happens, suddenly the thread is empty. Why can't the rest of yall be more like queen Bicassie and the magical, progressive land of Amsterdam?

how can we let such uncivilized ppl do such a thing? the dutch really need to fix their racism FAST or face repercussion. we live in a modern world..these racist ideals and ideologies are from centuries ago..they do not belong in our time. you either keep up with the civilized world Netherlands or you get left behind. truly disgusting.

The thing is that most minorities/black people in our country are focused around the 'Randstad' (The Biggest cities of our country ) While most of the indigenous dutch folks are not in touch with other opinions or points of view......there are often little to no minorities in their parts of the country.....and thats why they all think that black pete is just a cute tradition that isnt meant to hurt anybody......they are ignorant....but its like not their fault.... They dont know better

The sad part is and I don't think she realises it yet, is that she is used by DENK, to function as scapegoat when thinks go wrong. Most negativity, most racism etc. is mainly directed at her. She gets send to do the talking about certain issues in talkshows, but they obviously don't inform her well to discuss.

It will be interesting to see how long she will hold on with DENK before she leaves and tries to fight for the things she believes in, in an other way.
