Like Never Letchu go, for example. It's so sparse, but not in a good way. There is no trace of the sort of lush production that Jam and Lewis can do. Like, can we get some strings or something?

It just sounds incredibly low energy to me. The magic that makes Janet into JANET isn't there. It's an album in search of a soul. There's no point of view. Obligation was the order of the day, rather than inspiration.
