Tied in this rate and almost tied in youtube views come the two Bad classics...
7. The Way You Make Me Feel/ Bad
Average: 9.035

Quote:
The music video for "The Way You Make Me Feel" was directed by Joe Pytka and produced by Michael Nesmith. It was choreographed by Vincent Paterson. The short version of the video is seven minutes and fifty-four seconds long and the full version is nine minutes and thirty-three seconds long. The video begins with a group of men trying to pick up women, but they don't get any luck. One of the men (Michael Jackson) is told to go home and not to hang around with the other guys anymore. When the man walks home, an elderly man (played by Joe Seneca), who is sitting on the steps of his house, tells him to just be himself. The man notices a woman, played by model/dancer Tatiana Thumbtzen, walking down the streets alone.
Shortly after the man walks out of an alley and stands in front of the woman while she's walking down the street, although she ignores him and keeps walking. He gets her attention by shouting, and then begins singing "The Way You Make Me Feel" to her while also dancing. Uninterested, she walks away. He follows her, having been cheered on by his friends to pursue her. Another dance routine begins, involving the man's friends, which leads to the man pursuing the woman throughout the neighborhood. The video ends with the man eventually winning the woman over, and embracing her, while a fire hydrant sprays out water. The videoclip also features an appearance by his sister La Toya as one of Thumbtzen's friends.

The full music video for "Bad" is an 18-minute short film written by novelist and screenwriter Richard Price and directed by Martin Scorsese. The video has many references to the 1961 film West Side Story, especially the "Cool" sequence.[42] The soundtrack for the full length video used a different audio track than the album recording. This soundtrack included an instrumental organ solo which was not a part of the album recording.
The video was not commercially released until it was included in the video albums; Video Greatest Hits - HIStory (long version on DVD and short version in VHS), Number Ones (short version), Michael Jackson's Vision (long version) and the Target version DVD of Bad 25 (short version). The full video was introduced in a TV special, Michael Jackson: The Magic Returns, on Primetime, a CBS television show on August 31, 1987.[43]
The full video won awards at various prestigious award ceremonies including Favorite Single (Soul/R&B) at the American Music Awards and Biggest Selling Album by a Male Soloist in the UK from the Guinness Book of World Records.

This western style video debuts the Latino Michael in a nice light. I stan so hard for Michael’s image in this video; The hair, the outfit, the sass, and overall the soul in his voice makes this one of the best music videos of all time

New era, new Michael (literally). With Martin Scorsese and Wesley Snipes on board, Bad became the late 80s introduction to a new timeline of megastar. Choreography is more intricate and complex than any in Michael's previous videos, and the outfit instantly became an iconic piece of music history. Bad might be overindulgently long, but the breakdown with the extended dance routine is one of the reasons Michael Jackson is the only rock artist inducted into the Dance Hall Of Fame.

Some of Michael's best moments are the ones in which all of the bombast is reined in and he lets his innate gifts do the talking. As shy and circumspect as he could be in interviews, Michael unleashed an unmatched level of swagger and confidence through music and dance. Fortunately, in the video for The Way You Make Me Feel, he lets both hog the spotlight.

I love TWYMMF too but Bad is probably Michael's best video regarding the storyline. If I had not seen the entire video it would probably be lower but the enter version is seriously a masterpiece.

Both are good videos, but if I had to choose, I'd pick Bad (the full version).
If just short version, then TWYMMF

It debuted to over 500 million people and was the video for one of his last number 1 hits. Just missing the top 5 is...
6. Black or White
Average: 9.05
Quote:
Controversy was generated concerning the last four minutes of the original music video. Jackson walks out of the studio as a black panther and then morphs into himself.[23] Then he walks outside to perform some of his most physically complicated dance techniques, in a similar way to "Billie Jean". The scene is also very similar to that of a commercial Jackson appeared in for L.A. Gear in 1989. This part contained sexually suggestive scenes when Jackson starts to grab his crotch,[21] and then zips his pants up. In the original version, Jackson is seen smashing windows,[21] destroying a car and causing an inn (called the "Royal Arms") to explode. Jackson later apologized saying that the violent and suggestive behavior was an interpretation of the animal instinct of a black panther, and MTV and other music video networks removed the last four minutes from subsequent broadcasts.[23] To make the vandalism and violence more understandable to viewers, an altered version was produced, adding racist graffiti to the windows Jackson breaks. The version included in the box set Michael Jackson's Vision is the aired, televised version without the graffiti, and does not include the "prejudice is ignorance" title card.

I would have scored Black or White considerably lower. For all its extravagance, it's weighed down by a near-terminal level of cheese, from that awful interminable introduction to the derp-fest of faces from around the world melting into one other. What lifts the video long after its once-dazzling special effects became dated is its extraordinary coda, in which Michael's body becomes the ultimate effect, effortlessly expressing anxiety and rage at a world that still insists that it does matter if you're black or white.

So much great stuff is going in this short film, between Michael running around different sections of cultures and chaos, it remains one of his most popular videos of his career. White Michael debuts and snatches the entire game in 1991! His hair alone in this video deserves a tutorial video. The panther dance should get an 11 tbh

Quote:
One of the most expensive music videos ever made, and seen by half a billion people during its premiere, it was another case of new era, new Michael. From Macaulay Culkin and the famous ethnicity-morphing segment, the video seems a mix of corny and even gaudy in how it portrays the song and its message. Then it takes a swift left-turn, and Michael begins destroying property and dancing erratically as he pushes back against racist graffiti and imagery. Perhaps more relevant in late 2016 than it had been for much of the 21st century.

It deserves its place for the panther dance alone. All of atrl's cultural appropriating favorites should be forced to view this video.

With probably the easiest MJ chereography to replicate, the video with the baddest (pun intended) jacket ever lands a spot in our top 5...
5. Beat it
Average: 9.278

Quote:
The music video for "Beat It" helped establish Jackson as an international pop icon.[31][32] The video was Jackson's first treatment of black youth and the streets. Both "Beat It" and "Thriller" are notable for their "mass choreography" of synchronized dancers, a Jackson trademark.[33]
The video, which cost Jackson $150,000 to create after CBS refused to finance it,[28][34] was filmed on Los Angeles' Skid Row—mainly on locations on East 5th Street[35]—around March 9, 1983. To add authenticity to the production but also to foster peace between them, Jackson had the idea to cast members of rival Los Angeles street gangs Crips and Bloods.[36] In addition to around 80 genuine gang members,[34] the video, which is noted for opening up many job opportunities for dancers in the US,[37] also featured 18 professional dancers and four breakdancers.[38] Besides Jackson, Peters and Vincent Paterson, the cast included Michael DeLorenzo, Stoney Jackson, Tracii Guns, Tony Fields, Peter Tramm, Rick Stone and Cheryl Song.
The video received recognition through numerous awards. The American Music Awards named the short film their Favorite Pop/Rock Video and their Favorite Soul Video. The Black Gold Awards honored Jackson with the Best Video Performance award. The Billboard Video Awards recognised the video with 7 awards; Best Overall Video Clip, Best Performance by a Male Artist, Best Use of Video to Enhance a Song, Best Use of Video to Enhance an Artist's Image, Best Choreography, Best Overall Video and Best Dance/Disco 12". The short film was ranked by Rolling Stone as the No. 1 video, in both their critic's and reader's poll. The video was later inducted into the Music Video Producer's Hall of Fame

As much as Thriller's video is the more iconic and remembered work, it was Beat It's look and choreo that launched Thriller and Michael to the stratosphere where he never came back down from. The Pepsi commercial, the parodies - everything of peak-era Michael Jackson referenced the Beat It style. It was Michael Jackson at his absolute coolest.

Beat It was Michael Jackson's first perfectly realized music video. It has a simple-but-effective arc that's easy to follow, memorable visuals (THAT JACKET), and first rate choreography. It also makes a fabulous case for one of Michael's most enduring themes: art and creativity (man at his best) triumphing over hatred and fear (man at his worst).

The Choreography alone should give Michael an 11! I get chills watching the video as it ends, and you see the crowd with Michael continuing to dance as the video fades out.

The first of MJ rent-a-gangster videos, it's easily the most iconic as the dance moves are simple yet somehow still scream MJ.Everything from the jacket to the jheri curl, one of the defining moments of the biggest era of all time.

Quote possibly the most controversial spot on our list due to a certain poster's score, with no into needed...
4. Smooth Criminal
Average: 9.321

Quote:
The video won Best Music Video at the 1989 Brit Awards and the Critic's Choice awarded Jackson the "Best Video" award and the People's Choice Awards for "Favorite Music Video" for that same year.
The style of clothing as well as mannerisms Jackson portrayed were reused in the numerous adaptations of the video game Michael Jackson's Moonwalker. The song itself serves as the background music for the "Club 30s" stage, the nightclub seen in the music video, that appears in the game.
the music video, Michael Jackson and the dancers immediately around him perform a seemingly impossible forward lean. To accomplish this maneuver, a hitching mechanism which Jackson co-patented was built into the floor of the stage and the performers' shoes, thereby allowing performers to lean without needing to keep their centers of mass directly over their feet.[11] The system consists of pegs that rise from the stage at the appropriate moment and special shoes with ankle supports and cutouts in the heels which can slide over the pegs and be temporarily attached to the stage.[12]
In the patent, it is stated that the illusion in the music video was achieved by means of harnesses and cables which had to be connected to and disconnected from the floor by stagehands

A music video that could have been lost within a bizarrely overblown movie, Smooth Criminal is Michael Jackson's best choreography, best cinematography, best fashion and best in general music video. It was effortlessly cool, and insatiably slick. This was Michael at a perfect balance between boundless creativity and talent, and just enough delusion to pull off something so out-of-the-box.
