Friends is my all time favourite TV show. I've been watching it since I was like 10 and for 6 years now I watch reruns almost every other day and it's still funny. However, I have always hated they way they wrote most of their jokes. They were so homophobic and ignorant sometimes. I think in a way it shaped how straight people treat gays and how it was ok or cool to be homophobic. Even my straight friends acted that way after they binged on it.
Here are some homophobic moments as well :
No it honestly wasn't. I think it's people from a different time period - 20 years later, REACHING and just trying to find something to hate when people try to say Friends was homophobic or racist.
Chandler helps Joey take a shower because he has a severe hernia and can’t move. It mortifies Chandler, whose embarrassment about two men in close contact exposes his deep-rooted homophobia.
I wouldn't call it homophobic. But they didn't use any gay characters except when they needed someone to make fun of. Which happened in literally every TV show in the 90's/00's.
Yeah I was actually thinking about it the other day....I'm a huge Friends fan as well!! I actually think the show is a bit homophobic tbh all these ''lesbian'' insults towards Ross' ex wife and all the ''gay'' insults from the guys trying to be ''men''
