I don't think anyone should devote their lives to anyone. That's kinda unealthy.
But if by devote their lives he means helps in times of needs then no.

You should be devoted to them, but to devote your life to something kinda implies you make it your #1 priority, which is NOT something I think is required in a healthy marriage.
I can't sympathize 2 devoting my life to someone else but that's what marriage is. As long as it's mutual I don't think that viewpoint is misogynistic at all.

Plenty of people consider their partner to be their #1 but it doesn't mean they are being obsessive or neglectful of anything else by default.
