Literally 99% of the Koreans I know here HATE Kpop, though I was really surprised
Same goes for Japanese people and j-idols Guess it's more of disliking mainstream pop music and preferring "real artists". Usually koreans like the second gen "legends" like SNSD, WG, 2NE1 and BigBang. Sometimes SHINee too. But newer groups are not that popular with public and probably never will be as SK is kinda tired of idols.

Nah I still think K-pop labels are more willing to try out a sound running counter to what's in, especially the smaller acts. In the west the Top 40 is mainly "I've got a revolutionary idea: Let's do a trop house song... But change the drop ".

I've found most Asian-Americans aren't into k-pop, and I can understand why, it looks cheesy admittedly. I imagine it's looked upon as being on the same level as 90s UK/US boy bands
