A lot of stuff is due to the trainee system. If you work hard enough, you get to debut. Imagine if Republic or Interscope or Columbia had auditions and trainees.

Oh the good old days when I had this mindset. My interest in Kpop has dwindled to the point where I only peruse this thread for the users and not the music itself.

You need to be authentic and real and not too cheesy so everyone purposefully tries to underachieve and in doing so they stop putting effort into a good pop song/visual package. Koreans are so obsessed with looking bigger and better than their neighbors that they'll splurge ungodly money on these eras/vids/choreos/songs etc

beyond the concepts and visuals... they work so damn hard and put so much effort into the art of performance. Who is doing that here besides Bey/Gaga/Bruno? Everything is so half-assed. You make a "challenge" on the internet and the next week, your song is topping the chart. I love Black Beatles but like....it is what it is. We gotta do better.

I've actually gotten more and more interested but it might be because i've actually felt Kpop improve as the years went on. Like me in 2013/14 was pretty into it but not as obsessive as I am now.

Also, almost exactly like 8thPrince said, people are too concerned with "real muzik!11!!" that they value that and pseudo-artistry (that often doesn't even bring anything new to the table) over a straight up good pop music package with visuals and performance.
