with paul, i think he's just going back to his roots now and doing more beatlish stuff, after all the years he was trying to go in a completely different direction. in some of his newer songs it really sounds like he's trying to do paul, george, john and ringo all at once. like the slide guitar in this song from his last album is all george.

also you asked about paul's best albums to listen to. i would definitely go with Ram aka the best young paul album, Band on the run aka the best wings album and New aka the best old paul album. that's the trinity for me.

My favorite on Abbey Road has to be Golden Slumbers, though. Such a beautiful song, and Paul sings the hell out of it. And then the reprise of You Never Give Me Your Money in Carry That Weight is equally beautiful and slayful.

I took the time to listen to Abbey Road in full last night, and wow... Everything from I Want You to The End is like an otherworldly experience. Especially the sudden end of I Want You, Because, You Never Give Me Your Money, and Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End. The production on that album is simply immaculate!
