This map shows where all the reported 'hate incidents' took place across the country in the 10 days following Donald Trump's election win
Quote:
'In the ten days following the election, there were almost 900 reports of harassment and intimidation from across the nation,' the paper reads.
'Many harassers invoked Trump’s name during assaults, making it clear that the outbreak of hate stemmed in large part from his electoral success.
'People have experienced harassment at school, at work, at home, on the street, in public transportation, in their cars, in grocery stores and other places of business, and in their houses of worship.

Quote:
'They most often have received messages of hate and intolerance through graffiti and verbal harassment, although a small number also have reported violent physical interactions.'
It also added that: 'Some incidents were directed at the Trump campaign or his supporters.'
The report states that of the total 867 incidents, 23 - or 2.65 per cent - were anti-Trump.

This graph shows the number of reported incident each day over the ten-day period covered in the study

One of the most high profile incidents reported since the election took place at a middle school in Michigan on November 10.
A group of white students at Royal Oak Middle School was filmed shouting, 'build a wall'. Latino students were said to be in tears as other pupils echoed one of Trump's key slogans.
Royal Oak Schools Superintendent Shawn Lewis-Lakin said some parents expressed concerns about the safety of their children in the wake of the video emerging.
A fifth-grade teacher in Minneapolis told CNN she sees the impact of Trump's win on a daily basis.
'My students have begun playing a game called "Trump's Coming," in which one non-Hispanic student yells 'Trump's Coming' and all of the Hispanic students need to hide,' Lindsey Polkl told the network.

Public spaces were the leading location for 'hate incidents' over the time covered in the survey, followed by K-12 schools and the workplace or retail environments
Quote:
'There have been more fights between students as well as students toward teachers, a direct result of the anxiety our students are constantly feeling.
'Daily we discuss and answer questions about the hate they see spewed across the internet and within their community, about what is true and what is not true.'
For a separate survey, the SPLC asked 10,000 teachers, counselors, administrators and others who work in schools if they saw a change after the election.
The responses found there was a clear impact.
'Ninety percent of educators report that school climate has been negatively affected, and most of them believe it will have a long-lasting impact,' the study read.
|
Quote:
In total, there were more than 2,500 reports of 'negative incidents' of bigotry and harassment that can be directly linked to the sort of rhetoric displayed during the election, the study reads.
It classified negative incidents as: 'graffiti (including swastikas), assaults on students and teachers, property damage, fights and threats of violence.'
It also found that eight per cent said they have heightened anxiety on the part of marginalized students, including immigrants, Muslims, African Americans and LGBT children.
Data was compiled in an online survey between November 14 and 23.

This doesn't even make sense. Trump is plenty busy and found lots of time to spread hate.
