You need to do both honestly. Not one or the other lol.
i run, swim and do weight training. It's a nice balance because I am toned but not too bulky. i don't find being beefy or really muscular attractive imo
cardio if you're trying to lose weight
doing both to stay healthy and fit is also really good
personally I'm more into cardio, I follow some youtube workout videos, they're great and easy to do at home
