Born To Die finally fell out of the BB200 on today's chart, after 251 consecutive weeks. This is the 9th longest consecutive run of all time;
594 - Pink Floyd - The Dark Side Of The Moon (1976-1988)
372 - Original Cast - My Fair Lady (1956-1963)
331 - Original Cast - The Phantom Of The Opera (Highlights From) (1990-1996)
313 - Johnny Mathis - Johnny's Greatest Hits (1959-1965)
303 - Carole King - Tapestry (1971-1977)
301 - Adele - 21 (2011-present)
295 - Guns N' Roses - Greatest Hits (2004-2009)
281 - Metallica - Metallica (1991-1997) 251 - Lana Del Rey - Born To Die (2012-2016)
250 - Pearl Jam - Ten (1992-1996)
Oh well, all good things come to an end, and it was an amazing run for an album which was initially thought to have flopped in Lana's home country (despite reaching No 1 and spending months in the top ten in other territories across the world).
But the Americans gradually took BTD to their hearts and, in true sleeper hit fashion, it racked up nearly five years on the chart before falling off, long outlasting the majority of other albums released in the same time period, and indeed, Lana's subsequent albums, Ultraviolence and Honeymoon.
It's also the 4th longest running album by a female on the BB200 ever, after Tapestry, 21 and Taylor Swift. Hopefully it comes back on to the chart again and at least passes Taylor's debut to make the top three, where I believe it deserves to be.
Truly a defining album of this decade and our generation. The amount of doubt she got when she debuted after the career killing SNL performance just to upstage every one with her album.
And without a single top ten hit. Ahhhh who else honestly??
