I'm shrieking at everyone who's even entertaining the idea of Taylor performing at Trump's inauguration.
Taylor's target audience is supposedly teens, tweens, and soccer moms.
But image-wise, Taylor is no different from pop girls like Katy or Ariana. Taylor hangs out with Victoria's Secret supermodels, makes tacky videos, and sings bubbly, cliché pop songs. And she gets as much media attention as Beyonce does. She even sells sex to some degree, and has appeared in a few men's magazines like GQ.
I've been to a couple of Taylor concerts and a couple of Katy concerts. And the audiences at Taylor's shows are quite similar to those at Katy's shows (Katy's audiences tend to skew younger).
A mainstream pop star like Taylor would NOT be appropriate for a massive crowd full of hard-line conservatives. (The SuperBowl would be a different story, of course.)
I could even make the same argument about Carrie Underwood.
