Are music critics and audience sexist, from a lyrical point of view?

I just heard the Starboy album and while I love the record, I was thinking to myself "what if a pop girl made a record lyrically similar?" How would critics react? So many of his songs (and many other male artists') are completely narcissistic and materialistic, often bragging about their status, objectifying women and sometimes glorifying borderline criminal behaviors, yet society doesn't seem to have a problem with it? Do you think a female artist can successfully go this route without being scrutinized?
