Why do people act like Vocal talent > Performing talent?
Don't they both have their places?
It's a bit annoying to see people wash over performing talent like it's nothing.

They do have their own places. But being a good vocalist will probably get you further along and garner more respect.
It's what you want to see at a live show. If I go see Madonna or Britney, I know what I'm paying to see, and that's not vocals. If I go see Adele, I know what I'm paying to see, and that's vocals.

It's a tired belief that [redacted] people seem to hold on to, through and through.
Y'all want vocals that bad all the time then stan for Pavarotti or your local choir lmao.

You're a singer first and foremost. If you can't sing, then being a good performer can only mean so much.

All factors are important, its just depends on what you prefer. I usually don't give a about vocals so I can easily stan for Britney. I prefer performing, dancing etc. Also, I appreciate instrumental music more, background production is more important to me than actual vocals.

Cuz we're talking singers, so being able to hold a note should be considered a basic requirement.

If you're a singer it's natural there will be an emphasis on well singing so when you get performers know matter how talented that lip sync they will never be respected.

And both those things are irrelevant even more when your music is the juice in the bottom of a garbage can.

Cause they thought their faves can be like Adele after they flopped trying to be like Britney.

I get what you're saying. But then that's subjective, isn't it? Some people like seeing a spectacle at a live show, while others would die to see a singer stand in one spot and hit high notes...so if it's just a preference, why is one more "respected" as you rightfully put it?

A "singer", lol.
The three most (the third being arguable nowadays) famous pop recording artists of all time aren't known for the vocal prowess.
It's showmanship we're interested in.

And for the record before anyone TRIES it, I'm a fan of great vocalists too.
I stan for both Britney and Legend X, and I know why I love them both. Different reasons for liking them but if i had to "rank" the reasons, I wouldn't be able to.

The general consensus is that being able to sing gains you more respect. I'm not saying that's what I believe but that's what the general population believe.
There are exceptions, such as Christina. Who is respected, or at least was. Christina has some of the most shocking vocal technique in the business. Horrible, horrible vocalist. Bad, bad technique.

Vocal talent cant get you far in this business. You got to have a spark and something that distinguishes you from the rest or else youre going to have a quick little career, no more than 5 to 10 years then the gp is going to discard you.

Milllions of people all around the world can sing, you can find all those YouTube videos and xfactor singer with very nice vocal abilities. So why aren't all of them famous an appreciated? Because they don't have charisma, they can't make a show, they can't dance, can't write a good song etc. I'd really prefer to have an artist with all the latter factors, someone interesting, creative and hardworking, who can put on a real show, than just a singer who will hold dozens of high notes through the song.

This is all very "a woman's place is in the kitchen."
If vocals were the sole criterion of a "singer's" worth then statues would be erected in Mariah Carey's name and Selena Gomez would be stoned for crimes against nature.
Octaves and scales don't endear the masses and sell the records; je ne sais quoi does. If your technically proficient vocalist knew better, he or she would do better.
