Only time they will show the urban categories is when someone like Beyoncé is their a huge urban artist but other than that they never air the urban awards. What makes the pop awards more important is it racism?💋
Eh to an extent maybe. Or genre bias. I don't think its flat out racism though.
There are so many genres and other categories they don't air. Like classical or religious/Christian genres or most (if not all?) technical categories. They air what they think will get the most audience views + categories with stars people theoretically want to see to a mass audience. How many people outside their fanbases or genre want to see classical performers of religious performers?
Bey is too huge to ignore because her star power is immense.

It depends on who is winning. The Grammys need to maximise viewership to increase advertising revenue, so they have to have the biggest names winning in airtime categories. If there isn't a media draw in an urban category, it is wasted airtime, as that could have been used instead, for example, to televise a win by Beyoncé in a different category.
It has nothing to do with racism, and everything to do with viewership and revenue. You may also encourage big names to show who may not otherwise if they have a chance of winning a televised award that may not be televised every year.
