I think it's more of an ironic comedy act. Those stars in hindsight were pretty hilarious and feeble. Throw in some nostalgia and people are just looking back ironically being like "Queens!".

I don't think the obsessions exist outside of funny memes, profile pics etc.

I'm kinda one of those gays in that I do miss 2007 (but I never cared about Lindsay Lohan or Amanda Bynes, I actually always thought they were insufferable) but I'm not dedicated to the point that I run a blog or Twitter account commemorating those times... I don't know, I don't see the problem

Paris Hilton was infinitely more entertaining. Kim literally does NOTHING. Paris had the same type of glamorous life but she was also a party girl so she always said something idiotic or messed up really bad and we all took a hardy laugh at her expense.

Those were the main superstars of the moment, Britney musically with an established success of all her albums-performances was the main pop girl of those years, Lindsay with movies was the youngest most paid actress (most of you still making quotes from 'Mean Girls'), Paris with her reality shows was the first "socialite" to make that kind of career ('The Simple Life' - 'My super BFF'), all were at the top in those years, the gp and media were obsessed with them as well, not only gays.
