Like when we get back to the 80s male popstars were about to be the biggest while in the 90s it were boy- & girlbands and in the 00s it were female singers that dominated the decade.

It goes like this:

70s: Bands (Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, ABBA, Pink Floyd, Queen,...)
80s: Male Popstars (Michael Jackson, Prince, Boy George, David Bowie, George Michael,...)
90s: Boy/Girlgroups (Backstreet Boys, New Kids on the Block, Spice Girls, TLC, N'Sync,...)
00s: Female Popstars (Britney Spears, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez, P!nk,...)
10s: Male Popstars (Bruno Mars, Justin Bieber, Ed Sheeran, John Legend, Drake,...)

Do you agree with this? The 80s may have had Madonna, Cyndi or Whitney or the 90s may have had Nirvana, the Red Hot Chili Peppers or No Doubt but it's the overall complete package which you may want to consider.

The 2010s can be still debatable but as it looks it's the male artists that are taking over this decade again. Or what do you think?

Each decade has several stereotypes that occurred along side each other.

70s: Disco era / rock bands / psychedelic-hippie influence carried over from 60s
80s: Hair bands / one hit wonders / birth of today's pop legends
90s: Grunge bands / alternative bands / hip hop and r&b / pop girl groups and boy bands
00s: Pop punk bands / pop girls / modern rappers / modern country singers
10s: Very minor return of pop groups / rising male stars / rap's new rising stars / EDM rising

It's not accurate to choose just one and stamp it as the main image of the decade.
