Short answer he's a communist dictator.
Long answer: He overthrew an American supported dictatorship in Cuba and proceeded to make Cuba communist. He took away the wealth from the Cuban middle and upper class which led to a mass exodus of Cubans to Miami. He wanted to destroy any traces of the middle and upper class so he let hundreds of thousands leave to the USA. Havana Cuba was actually a very wealthy city in the early to mid 1900s but now it's just a shell of what it once was. All the families that lost everything because of him hate him. There are no homeless people in Cuba because it is a right to own a home (I believe) but many of these homes have holes because there isn't enough money to fix them. There's a lot more but this is just a bit of info.
