It was her "comeback" album though there was anticipation and hype surrounding it, her numbers are completely underwhelming, to not see this is just stupid. Rih managed to bounce back after Rated R, Britney after Blackout, Bey after 4, why couldn't she after Artpop?

People keep saying that BTW was too polarizing and that's true but I think that people were still interested in her if an unrelatable song with strange lyrics like Applause can peak at #4. If she reinvented herself in 2013 instead of releasing a terrible album and continuing with the theatrics, I think there's a possibility she'd still be relevant today.

Rebel Heart was released in March 2015 and sold 820K WW in the entire year...Hopefully Joanne will pass that soon.

She basically ran out of ideas after BTW. I don't think she changed her style drastically between TF and BTW like people are saying, she simply got too "weird" for the GP taste but that wasn't a problem for ha fan base as long as she was serving bops, since she failed them with ARTPOP then even little monsters started to jump off the ship. Now, she releases Joanne and become even more unreliable to former fans, and for what? The results so far are not that good.

On one hand you have Gaga haters who seem completely entranced and obsessed with her commercial performance. Threads like this are beat to death and it doesn't take that long for a Google search sis. It's been 3 years since the Artpop era and some of you are still acting brand new

On the other hand I do feel like Lady Gaga has been going at her career wrong for some time now. I think this last era she could have bounced back on the charts. But she failed to cater to her base and she failed back on the flamboyance TOO much.

Remember that Madonna declined ALOT from the Immaculate Collection (30M) to Erotica (7M) and didn't really establish herself to well again till ROL. Sure she had hit singles but she wasn't really the pop queen she once was.

Mariah declined as well, as did Whitney etc. Only Janet really had a steady career path commercially until the SB incident.

I think Gaga can bounce back. She's only 30 she has time and she certainly has the talent.

Album sales have remained fairly consistent between that time in now. It's only singles that have taken a big dip, so this is irrelevant.

Well it's not a massive fall so I'd say yes. The only thing that's fallen is her digital sales power and no1 wants to stream her.

She's extremely talented but she's also extremely out-of-touch.

What made Gaga cool back in 2008 is the fact that she hit the nail-on-the-head with what was popular. Electronic dance-pop. 80s-inspired, futuristic fashion. Square sunglasses. Blazers. Wet leggings. She was cool. And she said "it's ok to like stuff that's popular. Don't be pretentious about it."

Now she's making music that the GP isn't demanding. Her fans love it because she's staying true to herself. And it's true. Say what you want, but 'Joanne' is so authentic. It seems like who she really is. You can hear/see the 'Red and Blue' Stefani on it. It has artistic integrity. The only problem is, it's not current and it's not what anyone wants. Her die-hard stans will say "well I LOVE this sort of music" but the fact of the matter is, if Katy Perry released 'Joanne' they would undeniably brand it "the worst pop album of all time."

What's popular right now? Tropical house (Cheerleader, Cheap Thrills, What Do You Mean?, Trust Nobody). What's Gaga releasing? 70s country music.
