Confident (album) only sold 76k despite having a 2x platinum lead single and coming off of her "commercial peak." Stone Cold didn't chart despite being performed on SNL, Ellen, iHeart Radio Awards, Billboard Women In Music, etc. Body Say barely went top 40 on iTunes (doesn't matter if it was an official single or not, never said it was either). She had to make huge discounts for her Honda Civic Tour. And she herself said that her music won't sell:

I knew you would find a way to bring my faves up. Thank you for your concern, but Hilary is on a critically-acclaimed, hit tv show (which she was just nominated for her second consecutive PCA nomination for) and just snatched one of the top managers in the industry and recently recorded two new songs. Harry Styles, my fave from 1D, is going to be in a Christopher Nolan film and recently signed an $80 million record deal with Columbia Records. Selena is coming off of an era where she scored 3 top 10's and despite being in rehab has a random collaboration gaining at pop radio, two upcoming films, and she just won Best Female Artist at the AMAs with a much buzzed about acceptance speech.
