You really learn how to budget your money when you live on your own. Between rent, phone bill, internet bill, groceries, etc.
Buying a house is even worse. We had to put down a $5,000 deposit when we offered, another $5,000 when they accepted. We then had to pay for a house inspection which cost like $375, then another $1000 for a lawyer for all the legal doings. This is all before we even take possession of the house. This doesn't even equal to all the other things were going to have to pay for as well like heat, water, electricity, mortgage payments, etc.
