In my opinion, Trump is not dumb. He knows there will be multiple assassination attempts.

That's why I feel like he hired Mike Pence, to push people away from trying it.

Of course. That is the only reason he was made vp, the only thing worse than a trump presidency would be a pence presidency. He is basically his life insurance

Perhaps they had that in mind. The main reason why they went with Pence is because Trump was having a big problem winning over the "Never Trumper" Republicans in the primary. Since Pence is so backwards and conservative while also being less erratic of a public speaker, he helped bridge the gap for that voting demographic and gained wider support for the ticket.
