In june the Euro soccer championship was getting all the publics attention. Then there was "Pets" and "Ice Age". They had the market to themselves now.

I knew the soccer championship was huge there but I didn't know it affected how movies would perform. Europeans do love soccer. It was a smart move from Pixar.

Especially since FD is a movie not only for kids. This was not the first time they did this. If I remember correctly they opened INside Out rather late in Germany and other markets as well.

Compare it to the Super Bowl. No studio would open a tentpole action movie on Super Bowl-weekend.

Yes, they're pretty smart when it comes to release dates. I am so glad this became the highest grossing animated movie of 2016. Both, Finding Dory and Zootopia are great.

I pre-ordered a copy, I was gonna take my chances and pick it up physically but I couldn't pass up the $5 gift card.
