He almost was banned though - a petition was done by the public (millions) and it reached enough signatures that the issue was debate in the house of commons.
I wouldn't say almost There was a debate because the law required it given the signatures, but no-one would ever have gone through with banning him. What a waste of taxpayers' money that petition/debate was
