That being said, though, let's be honest with ourselves and stop acting like big part of the reason why people are mad at him is that he's from Spain. Not saying he shouldn't have known who Juan Gabriel was (he's a musician for pete's sake... he should've know), but if this had been some random guy from Honduras (for example), this wouldn't have blown up nearly as much.
It just plays right into the stereotype that all Spaniards look down on us Latin Americans...
