I think one of the bigger flaws in religion is the idea that we have to take people's word for it. That we're somehow supposed to feel contented with the fact that we've never seen God and fear the ETERNAL punishment of denying his existence for that very fact that he hasn't physically manifested before our eyes.
You'd think a God who wants constant praise would... idk...maybe make his presence more obvious.
And somehow questioning that aspect of it, makes US naive and foolish. I'm sorry but, I can't SEE God in the leaves, the ocean, and the mountains. I just see the leaves, the ocean, and the mountains. What special goggles do I need to buy?
I guess this does have to do with people's lack of scientific knowledge. Even back in the day when I thought I believed in the Christian God, people would say things like "the sunset is so beautiful, God made it for us to appreciate it" and "Human body is so complex, it's fascinating how He made it". I'd always see those things with some kind of scientific approach instead of taking people's words. Made more sense to me than believing someone's thoughts on those matters.
Scientific explanations of things are so much more unique and magical to me. Sometimes I just stare at my fingers moving and marvel at the circulatory system, look up at the stars and imagine how vast the universe is and how it's still expanding even faster than before. All of this fascinates me and fills me with more wonder than any so called miracle in the bible. Am I thy one who feels this way?
My curiosity is killing me. Is the big bang real? If so then is the big crunch? What exists in the intervals between them? Are we the first instance of intelligent life wondering these things or was there another billions of years ago. Why is the universe such a tease. Why can't it tell us everything and be done with it. I'm fuming
I swear if I wasn't sure that there is no life after death I'd kill myself to find out everything
I lowkey wanted to be edgy and become like a "follower" of it, but then all those dumb christians who already see me being a satanist will think I am a satanist for real
btw. the Church of Satan is a new age atheism, has nothing to do with satanism from the bible
guys is my English really bad? I used to think, that at the very least I got the message across. I went into that earth is 2000 year old thread to present the arguments of why it's older such as the oldest tree, the light years, the snow ice layers but they, for some reason, thought I was denying earth being billions of years old

No I read the thread and your post was clear enough.

Language is not the issue with these people although I'm sure some of them are trolling

your point was clear, I think the person misunderstood you. Their fault, not yours in that case
Since most people here are pretty liberal I assume most everyone here is pro-choice?
I've been pro-choice as long as I can remember but lately I am really adding some grey to my opinion so to speak. I find it really gross how dismissive many pro-choice people are when it comes to father's rights and the like.

Is that a valid reason to not be pro choice though ?
