You have to realize that she released her first album in over an decade on a commercial record label and that the current commercial landscape doesn't leave much room for proper R&B. There are still hints to R&B JoJo on Mad Love with songs like Reckless, and she said she has plans to dive into that side in the near future.

Projects like Agape happened because she had all creative freedom, currently she also has to compromise to be properly re-introduced globally and to also please her label to some extend. The label gave her already room to reshape the album and go away from the Tringle sound which had more edm inspired hints.

So she didn't ditch R&B all together, she just isn't able to show it on a big scale currently
