My bosses have not been campaigning for the highest office in the land where one of the (usual) job descriptions is an even temperament.

Donald Trump is not Megyn Kelly's boss. One of the things that makes America and our democracy special is that we have a free press that isn't state sponsored/that doesn't have to answer to the government.
